Artist Statement

After years of working in various mediums I feel I have at last found my vocation. I now work full time as a sculptor from my garden studio , where I have been making my sculptures for over 16 years kept company by my dog Fraiser.

My work is all self taught and I deliberately avoided training so I could develop my own individual style. My sculptures are all 'one-offs' with no two identical. No moulds or patterns of any kind are used & no castings are made,so you are guaranteed to be getting a truly original highly collectable work of art.

My sculptures aren't meant to show an accurate representation, but more the spirit & character of the subject, with a touch of humor. I feel I have achieved my goal if I manage to put a smile on someone's face when they view my artwork.

My sculptures are different from what most people think of as traditional outdoor sculpture. I work with wire and a variety of recycled material , including old jeans  and t-shirts. The material is impregnated with a special established tried and tested resin that amalgamates and fortifies the material, which when it dries strengthens and hardens the sculpture making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use all year round.Although you may imagine the sculpture to be delicate they are in fact quite robust. I hand paint each sculpture to look like metal, paying great attention to detail, for example the faeries all have large pants under their dresses.

My sculptures range in size from several inches to life sized figures.

I'm happy to take commissions, for example I can make a sculpture from your child's/baby's old clothes to make a truly individual unique sculpture.
