Artist Statement

MG Glass

“When I was a little girl I wasn’t allowed to run with scissors. Now I play with Fire and Broken Glass!”

This sign hangs in the doorway of Miranda Griffiths’ Glass Studio and is an expression of her joy and enthusiasm for her Glass Art.

Trained in 2004 in the traditional method of Stained Glass, Miranda realised that the ability to melt glass in a kiln gave her additional creative scope.

Using a variety of temperatures and techniques, Miranda designs and produces a unique range of glass art that can be functional as well as beautiful. She also incorporates sand blasting to etch designs into glass which is particularly effective in lanterns and candle screens.

Miranda is inspired by her love of the beautiful Derbyshire scenery and also her passion for the natural world, flora and fauna.

Visit Miranda during the Derbyshire Open Arts event over the Spring Bank Holiday at her Edge Road Studio.

Private viewings can be arranged through [email protected].

Miranda is a member of the Contemporary Glass Society - see www.cgs.org.uk
