Artist Statement
Pivotal to my practice is the archetypal mother figure. My work is driven and led by this. It comes from the inner core of self, it is work that I need to get out of myself and made into something, most usually involving paint. For over a year now, my decision to look this archetype in the face has enabled me to produce the work that comes from my gut. It is work that is deeply informed by personal experience.
For the past year, I have been engaged in a body of work for my first solo exhibition. This work was driven by an engagement with the mother and child archetypes. It was informed partly, by being a carer to my now young adult disabled child.
I consistently exhibit within the UK throughout the year, for example National Open Art and Bankside Gallery London and more locally, The Harley Gallery, Welbeck Estate. I have recently had my first solo exhibition at The Circle Gallery in Sheffield.
