Artist Statement

I am a self taught artist of over twenty years experience, I started out working as an amateur painting purely for my own pleasure. As the years went on I started to participate in local art shows including Ilkley Art show and started to work at a semi professional level. I began undertaking commissions for people of popular Derbyshire scenes inlcuding Chatsworth, Baslow and Bakewell. I also started to paint wildlife scenes and undertake pet portraits of peoples dogs and cats. Although originally a pastel artist I expanded over time to also incorporate the mediums of acrylic and water colour into my work. Unfortunately due to a personal tragedy, I took a step back from the art world for many years and have only recently began focusing on my art seriously again. Art is my main passion in life and continutes to be my main driving force. It was because of my passion for art and creating that I decided to open up the Dronfield art gallery. The gallery provides me with a platform to showcase my work to others, and to hopefully provide a venue for the local community to come and enjoy art. It also provides a location for other local artists and craftsman to be able to display their work to the public.
