Artist Statement

We keep a flock of Icelandic sheep on our smallholding in Chinley. They have gorgeous fleece which grows in every shade of brown, grey, black and white. Inspired by the fleece of our beautiful Icelandic sheep I started felting. I use the natural colours produced by our flock to create unique and useful pieces. The different colours and textures created by the individual locks add depth to the finished felt. Their wool is naturally insulating and the felting process preserves this property perfectly. The felt slippers and hats I create keep you warm in the coldest of weather and my tea cosies ensure your tea stays hot too. We lovingly rear and shear our sheep on our smallholding. Each piece has a story drawn from the life of the individual who gave their fleece for me to felt.
