Artist Statement
Joanna Allen is an Artist, Printmaker and Textile Designer, graduating with a Degree in Printed Textiles from Manchester Metropolitan University.
The starting point for all Joanna’s designs is her original artwork. These include mixed media paintings and intaglio prints, including etchings, collagraphs and monoprints. Recurring themes in her work include charming little birds, magical gardens and romantic florals.
Joanna loves breaking a few rules, and often layers watercolours, pastels, and even salt and bleach over her prints to create a distinctive quality.
Selected artworks are digitally printed onto fabric, creating unique designs for luxurious silk scarves and beautiful linen cushions.
